As the Captain of Team Causing a Stir, I am incredibly proud to lead a crew of paddlers who are dedicated to making waves for inclusion. While our goal to raise $100,000 is ambitious, the true heart of this journey lies in the specific faces and names I hold close with every stroke of my paddle.

The team paddles for a purpose, and these are the people who give me mine:

• My Cousin, April: Who lost her sight and extremities to the brutal realities of juvenile diabetes, but whose fierce spirit and enduring strength inspire me daily.

• My Friends, Raul, Schuyler, and Sammy: Whose lives were altered in a heartbeat by devastating accidents. They face a world full of physical barriers with unbelievable courage.

• My Niece, Megan: and our many friends born with unique abilities, who see and experience the world beautifully, and deserve every opportunity to play and belong.

Water has a magical way of neutralizing gravity, pain, and physical limitations. It offers pure freedom—and StirringWaters will finally bring that freedom to April, Raul, Schuyler, Sammy, Megan, and thousands of others.
